UK Travel Restriction

Travelling abroad has been restricted due to Covid19 and as such you will now be asked to provide reasons for your travels. It is illegal to travel abroad however there are exceptions to this:


- Travelling abroad for work purposes where it is not reasonably possible to fulfill that work within the UK, or to provide voluntary services. An employer’s letter or letter from relevant organisation confirming travel required as evidence can be provided.


- To access medical treatment or attend a clinical appointment. Family members can also accompany persons for the same and provide care for persons pregnant.

Individuals can also visit those in hospitals that are receiving treatment, critically ill, dying or giving birth.


- Travelling outside the UK to avoid domestic abuse, injury or harm.


- To provide assistance and care to vulnerable persons such as those with underlying conditions.


Medical evidence, proof of scheduled treatment, proof of hospital admission can be provided to demonstrate that travel abroad is necessary.


- Attending your wedding or civil partnership if either you or you and your partner live abroad. You may also attend funerals.


- For legal obligations, to exercise custody rights or to present oneself to a judicial or administrative authority


Travel abroad for holidays is not permitted. It is illegal to travel abroad without a reasonable excuse.
