All applicants in the UK are expected to take reasonable steps to leave the UK where it is possible to do so or apply to regularise their stay.
If it has not been possible to return to your country and you have a visa or leave that expires before 31 January 2022 you may request for ‘exceptional assurance’ in order to acquire additional time in the UK. During the time in which your request for ‘Exceptional Assurance’ is pending you will continue on the conditions as per your current or most recent visa. You may also apply for Exceptional Assurance if border or quarantine facilities are temporarily unavailable in your country.
Current Red List of countries:
Angola
Botswana
Eswatini
Lesotho
Malawi
Mozambique
Namibia
South Africa
Zambia
Zimbabwe
Exceptional Assurance should not be considered as leave to remain in the UK, but rather as short term protection against any adverse consequences following the expiration of your visa
If you have been granted Exceptional Assurance and intend to remain in the UK, you must then take steps to regularise your stay.
